Joe and Janet Wenturine welcome you to our website. We have been married since 8-3-1979 and we have 5 children, Nicolle, Tiffany, Joey, Jacob, and Andrew who went on to be with the Lord 5 hours after his birth, and as of 2022 we have 7 grandchildren! My wife Janet and I have been pastor’s in Marine City since June of 2002.
In 2008 I left my job at Ford Motor Company to take a full time paid position at Harvest Church to help maintain and lead this ministry in our community.
In August of 2012 we relocated the ministry to a newer, much larger piece of property do to the growth and vision of the ministry. And as we continue to grow as a ministry, other ministries begin to be birth as well.
In 2009 we started a non profit organization called, Safe Haven 4 Kids of Michigan. This is a non profit community development organization of Southeast Michigan, designed to meet the unique and overwhelming needs of abused, abandoned and neglected children of Southeast Michigan. This corporation raises funds to help send abused, abandoned and neglected children to a one week overnight camp.
Because of all that we do in our community and beyond, people ask me all the time, “What kind of church are you”? I simply say, “We are a Full Gospel, Non-denomination, Pentecostal, bible believing Church. In other words, if it’s in the bible we believe it, and do it.”
Harvest Church is a family of believers devoted to:
1. Living out and cultivating the values and ideals of the New Testament, which include holiness, purity, sacrifice, service, community, fellowship, spiritual empowerment, worship, intercession, and divine presence.
2. Sparking true and lasting revival, visitation, and awakening in the Church, in our City and around the world.
3. Helping to bring about moral and cultural reformation through the gospel and godly action.
4. Equipping, raising up, and sending out laborers to bring the message of repentance and forgiveness of sins.
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God.
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and co-eternal.
We believe in the deity and humanity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of God, and in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that sin came into the world through the disobedience of our first parents, Adam and Eve, and death by sin. Therefore, all humanity is in need of salvation due to it’s inherent sin nature as well as voluntary transgression.
We believe because of our total inability to save ourselves, salvation is by God’s grace alone. It is received by faith with repentance and acceptance of Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior.
We believe that sanctification is that work of the Holy Spirit by which the child of God is separated from sin unto God and is enabled to love God with all their heart and to walk in obedience to God’s Word. Sanctification is both instantaneous and an ongoing process. It is initiated at the moment of justification and regeneration. From that moment there is a progressive sanctification as the believer walks with God and daily grows in grace and in a more perfect obedience to God.
We believe the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in every believer at the moment of regeneration. The baptism in the Holy Spirit is distinct and subsequent to the indwelling of the Holy Spirit at regeneration, releasing the power of the Holy Spirit through faith. The baptism in the Holy Spirit is given to endue the believer with power from God, to offer an inspired witness for Christ, to lead the believer in a life of holiness, and to equip for a Spirit-filled life of service.
We believe the Holy Spirit is manifested through a variety of spiritual gifts to build and sanctify the church, demonstrate the validity of the resurrection, and confirm the power of the Gospel. The Bible lists of these gifts are not necessarily exhaustive, and the gifts may occur in various combinations. All believers are commanded to earnestly desire the manifestation of the gifts in their lives. These gifts always operate in harmony with the Scriptures and should never be used in violation of Biblical parameters.
We believe that the Christian Church is the entire body of believers in Jesus Christ. The Church includes both those believers who have gone to be with the Lord and those who remain on the earth. The Church on earth is to preach the pure Word of God, properly administer the sacraments according to Christ’s instructions, and live in obedience to all that Christ commands. A local church is a body of believers formally organized on gospel principles, meeting regularly for the purposes of obeying and fulfilling God’s will and mission for the church.
We believe that water baptism is a sacrament of the church, commanded by our Lord and administered to believers. It is a symbol of the new covenant of grace and signifies acceptance of the benefits of the atonement of Jesus Christ. By means of this sacrament, believers declare their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior.
We believe the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper is a sacred time of communion in the presence of God when the elements of bread and grape juice (the Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ) are taken in remembrance of Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross.
We believe that God cares and provides for every aspect of one’s life. God is the ultimate source for spiritual, mental, financial, and physical provision. We specifically believe that the power of God to heal the sick and afflicted is provided for in Christ’s death on the cross.
We believe Jesus Christ will physically and visibly return to earth to establish His Kingdom. This will occur at a date undisclosed by the Scriptures.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto eternal separation from God.
God is generous and so he calls us to be as well. What we do with what God has given us shows the world where our hearts are at and helps proclaim the gospel. We want to glorify God with every area of our lives, and that includes what we do with our finances.
